Facebook Groups

  1. Join a Facebook group where businesses post.
Hint: Look for words like business, events, and deals in the name of the groups.
  2. Look at the posts in the group (but do not create your own post)
  3. If you see a business that interests you, click through to “View Main Profile”
  4. In the “Intro” section of their profile you’ll see contact info usually including an email address and their website
  5. Write down the email address – you might want it later.
  6. Click through to the website and see what you think.
  7. Copy the person’s name, business name, city, and state and paste that into a Google Search

Networking Events

  1. Go to Eventbrite.com
  2. Click “search events”
  3. Search: Business Networking
  4. By default, your search will be limited to your state, but you can delete that and search nationwide if you need to find more events.
  5. Under “Price” select “free” so you only see events that you can attend for free.
  6. Look for events with names like “business networking mixer” and “networking and referrals”
  7. If you don’t want to leave your house, click the “Search for online events” filter
  8. Make sure you’ve got a good 30-Second Elevator Pitch
  9. Attend some events

More Networking Events

  1. Go to Meetup.com
  2. Click “Search events” and type: Business Networking and select your city and state in the location field.
  3. The “Any Type” filter allows you to select online or in-person events
  4. Make sure you’ve got a good 30-Second Elevator Pitch
Many of these events will allow you around 3 minutes to pitch your business
  5. Attend some events

Personal Contacts

This concept doesn’t have a video, but the pattern is simple.

  1. Pool together all the personal contacts you have (phone, social media, email contacts)
  2. One by one, look through your contacts and see if you can find out what they’re up to recently
Do not blast an email to everyone
  3. Reach out to start a quick conversation to reactivate that relationship by mentioning something they did recently
  4. When they reply, they’ll probably ask what you’re up to. Give them a quick summary saying:
I help [people] do [cool thing] without [something objectionable].
Do you know anybody who may be interested?

NOTE: You’re not pitching to the person directly, so it doesn’t matter if they don’t own their own business or have a need for web design and marketing. We just want to let them know what you’re up to. You may be surprised how many of your personal contacts know business owners in your niche.
